FADE IN.
Act 1
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - MORNING
A phone in hand, PETER is dictating something.
FLASHBACK
INT. STUDY - MORNING (YESTERDAY)
Staring at a blue phone and a red phone by his side, PETER looks pleased.
PETER (V.O.): In this new blue one, I've copied all the Apps and data from the old red one.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): As to the old red one, it's now as functional as the dead white one which my younger daughter disowned years ago.
Peter grabs the red one to examine the screen.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I bought it in Summer, 2018. I've dropped it a couple of times. I can see some minor cracks and chipped edges on the screen protector.
Peter touches the chipped edges carefully.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): As the new one is perfect, the old one doesn't look good. The chipped edges might hurt my hand too.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): In the estate mall, there's one phone stall. Let me go there and test the service level.
Act 2
INT. STALL - AFTERNOON (YESTERDAY)
Having enquired with a young PROPRIETOR, Peter passes him the old red phone. As the proprietor peels off the cracked glass protector, Peter sees something.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, the corners of my phone screen are damaged too...
As the proprietor does his job, Peter checks some phone accessories.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The proprietor seems taking his time...
PROPRIETOR: Sir...done.
Looking at his phone glass, Peter looks surprised.
PETER: Oh! It looks perfect! You must have sanded down the chipped glass corners for me.
The proprietor nods smilingly.
PETER (Cont'd): Great job! Thank you very much!
Peter pays happily.
PETER (V.O.): The proprietor's performance has exceeded my expectation. Getting total customer satisfaction, I'll do repeat purchase.
INT. STUDY - LATE AFTERNOON (YESTERDAY)
Staring at his two phones, Peter looks very pleased. He takes a photo of them with his third phone.
PETER (V.O.): Now, let me check the usable capacity of my new phone.
Blue phone in hand, Peter taps Settings, General, and then Storage.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh! Out of 256 GB, around 200 GB has been used already!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Have I make a mistake not to buy the one with 512 GB?
Scrolling down the phone screen, Peter checks System and then Other.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Oh, they consume over 80 GB? It's 10 times of the normal consumption!
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It must have inherited all the unnecessary caches and logs etc of the old phone.
Surfing the web, Peter watches a video clip. We hear:...the best way is to reset it by erasing all contents and settings...
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Yes, I've done it in Spring 2019 with my computer and the old red phone. But it was a hurdle to back up documents, photos and videos.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm most concerned with my diaries. I dictate/write my diary on Notes every night.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Would erasing all the contents and settings on my new phone means wiping out my diaries even if they're in the Cloud?
Peter checks his iPad Mini with an orange cover.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): My dairies are in my iPad Mini too. I believe erasing my diaries in this phone wouldn't erase those being stored in the Cloud.
Taking a deep breath, Peter taps the Reset button and sees a query.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Am I sure? Yes I'm.
Peter taps Reset again.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - NIGHT (YESTERDAY)
As his new blue phone is being reset, Peter checks his diaries on his iPad Mini anxiously.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They aren't disappearing. Good!
Peter then checks the System usage of his red phone, and then another gold iPad Mini.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The Systems consume lots of storage capacity, probably because I seldom shut them down. Let me reset them all.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S RESETTING EFFORT
A. After resetting of his blue phone is completed, Peter resets his red phone.
B. When resetting of his red phone is done, Peter resets the gold iPad Mini.
END MONTAGE
Later, Peter checks the operation of the App Notes in his devices.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They're retrieving very slowly my dairies from the Cloud. The operations take time.
INT. SLEEPING ROOM - LATE NIGHT (YESTERDAY)
A phone in hand, Peter attempts to dictate something with it.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, no, the App Notes is preoccupied and can't take in another note. I'll have to dictate/write my diary tomorrow morning.
RETURN TO PRESENT
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Today is the 1st day of Spring. Let me begin with the end in mind.
FADE OUT.
THE END
