Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - 22:00
Sitting by the bedside and working on his laptop, PETER appears content and focused.
PETER (V.O.): Made it. Actually made it.
He picks up his phone and checks the diary, running a finger down the entries for the past week.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was last Saturday, Sept 20, 2025 while I was in Dormy Inn Wakkanai after enjoying my morning onsen, I read a message about a meeting with my client scheduled for the following week.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although my wife and I were travelling in Japan, we kept up with the news from Hong Kong and leaned that a super typhoon was set to hit the city the following week.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): We were scheduled to fly back to Hong Kong on Wednesday, so I figured I could meet my client with the interpreter starting Thursday.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having discussed with the Secretariat who was well aware of the approaching typhoon, we agreed to hold the meeting today.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
EXT. PUBLIC CAR PARK, CAFETERIA NEW BEACH - 11:00
Standing by his Previa, Peter sets aside the papers and removed his suit and tie. Dressed in his swimming briefs and carrying his swim bag, he strolls towards the Golden Bay.
PETER (V.O.): I haven't swum for nearly a fortnight.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): After visiting the Osaka Expo with my wife in early Sept, our second Sept trip to the northern tip of Japan was originally planned for nine days.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): However, due to the cancellation of our Wednesday flight, we ended up talking the Friday flight home.
EXT. GOLDEN BAY - 11:15
The sun shines brightly as Peter swims iin the tranquil waters.
PETER (V.O.): The water here after the typhoon is as clear as that in Silverstrand.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Swimming is an excellent full-body workout that improves cardiovascular health, builds muscle strength and enhances endurance.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The combination of physical activity and being in nature can reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I heard that a man was summonsed for violating beach closure regulations by swimming here during the Typhoon No. 10 signal rasied.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While travelling in Japan, my wife and I primarily stay in onsen hotels.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Many onsens contain minerals that are believed to have health benefits; the hot springs can help relax muscles and reduce stress, contributing to overall mental health.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The serene environment of onsens did encourage mindfulness, promoting mental clarity and emotional balance.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Although the Airline arranged the Friday Flight for us, I was concerned about potential overbooking and whether we would have seats afterall.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When we attempted to check in online 24 hours ahead as we used to do, we're unable to do so.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Concerned, we decided to go to the Airport to speak to the Airline staff. Then, we learned that our rescheduled tickets could only be checked in at the Airport just before departure.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And so, on Friday, we arrived at the Airport early. They call it over-worrying. I call it closing the back doors before the storm gets in.
.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Relief doesn't begin when I land. It begins when I finally take my seat on the plane.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The weight of a client's future is heavier than any storm.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
Peter uploads an image, depicting the aircraft he is about to board among other aircraft parked at gates to a draft on his laptop.
PETER (V.O.): A typhoon on the horizon doesn't just change the weather; it reveals my priorities.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A successful life is built less on grand gestures and more on a series of correct, cautious decisions.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "The Friday Flight" isn't a schedule. It's a state of mind. It's the choice to trade a day of potential for a night of peace.
