  1. FADE IN

  2. Act 1

  3. EXT. CENTRAL - 09:45

  4. Walking past Cheung Kong Park, PETER captures an image of the Bank of China Tower.

  5. PETER (V.O.): I've taken lots of the tower before. But I'm not tired of doing that.

  6. Following an elevated pedestrian walkway, Peter is attracted by a building under construction near Admiralty.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): No, I'm not going back to my chambers yet, I'm attending a HKUST meeting on campus development.

  8. Taking the stairs to the ground level, Peter walks towards the Chater Garden.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The places I work in retirement are much more interesting than Government offices where I worked for decades.

  10. Arriving at the Chater Garden, Peter captures an image featuring the Hong Kong Club building.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At the lift lobby up there, I can see a bit of the park view. At the Business School foyer, there's the 180-degree harbour view.

  12. Thinking.

  13. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Do all architecture blend form with function, inspirational and sustainable?

  14. Act 2

  15. INT. BUSINESS SCHOOL,HKUST - 10:30

  16. Watching the architectural drawings and artistic impressions on screen, Peter follows presentations.

  17. PETER (V.O.): They're architects or project managers. They try to fulfill both practical and expressive requirements.

  18. Recalling.

  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was studying Housing Management, I learned about building constructions and environmental technology.

  20. Recalling.

  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What I learned served just the functional purpose and not any aesthetic ends.

  22. Pausing.

  23. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Through their presentations, I'm learning the art and technique of designing and building.

  24. Pausing.

  25. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): What I can contribute is from the hypothetic user's perspective.

  26. FLASHBACK

  27. EXT/INT. INNOVATION TOWER, HKPOLY U - DAY (MAY, 2014)

  28. Peter (59) walks towards the tower.

  29. PETER (V.O.): Its modernist look is distinctly different from other red-brick buildings.

  30. Recalling.

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was studying Land Administration here from 1980-1982, I could get lost here as buildings looked the same.

  32. Entering the tower, Peter takes the stairs to go up to a lecture theatre.

  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Its interior design is so simple. And it's good enough for me to conduct my moot auction of trade marks here.

  34. EXT/INT. LONDON AQUATICS CENTRE - DAY (JULY, 2014)

  35. Arriving in car with his WIFE, Peter (60) looks excited.

  36. PETER: Well, I'm going to swim in a venue that hosted the swimming events of the 2012 Summer Olympics!

  37. Peter focuses on the Centre.

  38. PETER (Cont'd): Its modernist look is so eye-appealing.

  39. Later, Peter swims happily in the pools.

  40. PETER (V.O.): What an Olympic-like experience!

  41. END FLASHBACK

  42. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I never thought of becoming an architect. I wasn't that artistic.

  43. Pausing.

  44. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 1975 at my family home in Tin Sum San Tsuen, I deconstructed a toilet and a pigsty, and built a toilet with a sump tank and a two-room structure.

  45. Pausing.

  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): By default, the design was minimalistic and the buildings were simple.

  47. Pausing.

  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):I believe they're still functional.

  49. Act 3

  50. EXT. CENTRAL - 13:00

  51. Exiting the HK Club building and parting his COLLEAGUES, Peter walks towards Admiralty.

  52. PETER (V.O.): An architect designs for the present with an awareness of the past and a vision for the future.

  53. Peter looks at the park with a fountain on his right.

  54. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The neighbourhood is calm, peaceful and untroubled

  55. Peter stares at construction works nearby.

  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Architecture are visual arts and they communicate by themselves.

  57. Thinking.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And whatever good stuff we design and build end up building our authentic selves.

  59. THE END
