Act 1
INT. STUDY - 09:30
Working on his computer, PETER hears loud drilling sounds.
PETER (V.O.): I've got to go again. Fortunately, I've already done some work.
Peter looks out of the window.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, it's raining.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The gloomy weather describes my mood right now.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm actually fine with the rain. I only worry about lightning strikes.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My matriculation classmates Chan King-chau (陳景秋) and Wu Shu-fun (胡樹勳) were struck dead at Lantau Peak in 1974.
Act 2
EXT. ROADS - 12:00-13:00
Driving, Peter listens to the radio. We hear:...Happiness is spending time with your loved ones and feel loved...
PETER (V.O.): Happiness is a pursuit, a choice we make. It's in us.
EXT. GOLDEN BEACH - 13:00
Raining. Car park. Waiting inside his car, Peter sees other PASSERS-BY carrying umbrellas.
PETER (V.O.): I come here to swim.
Later, the rain stops. Peter goes to the beach. He sees dark clouds covering a greater part of the sky.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can see a few souls swimming, and lifeguards are on duty.
Peter then swims to the outer limits of the swimming area. There's a broadcast from the shore.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't hear the announcement.
Peter continues to swim, checking the dark clouds in the sky.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They aren't passing away. Let me swim back to the shore.
Changing room. As Peter comes out, we hear sounds of thunder. Then, we hear a broadcast advising swimmers to return to shore immediately.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Did I assume the risk unknowingly? Or have I just been timely lucky?
FLASHBACK
EXT. LUNGI RICE TERRACED RICE AREA, GUANGXI, CHINA (June 2016)
Pouring rain. Peter climbs up paths between rice terraces alone. He sees paddy FARMERS planting small bunches of rice seedlings diligently.
PETER (V.O.): They aren't soft people.
Peter is busy in capturing the moments with his handheld devices.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The rain makes the scene greener. I smell life too.
Later, rain dissipated. At a cottage restaurant, a TOUR GUIDE is welcoming Peter.
TOUR GUIDE: You're the last to return.
PETER (Smiling): I've been in a relationship with the rain.
TOUR GUIDE: 一山有四季.十里不同天 (A mountain has 4 seasons; the weather differs in 10 miles).
END FLASHBACK
Peter takes a look of the Lantau Peak.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Just days before they parted us by accident, I met up with King-chau and Shu-fun.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): They meant to watch sunrise from the Lantau Peak.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I knew their dreams.
Sighing, Peter gets inside his car.
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - 15:00
Study, 1/F. Peter is decluttering.
PETER (V.O.): I struggle with myself to hold on; I struggle with myself to let go.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Change is never easy. But little by little, I'm changing like seasons.
Act 3
INT. STUDY - 22:30
Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): The weather changes naturally. People have to change willingly.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Growing older and wiser, I'm really privileged.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've learned to make the most of what that comes and the least of what that goes.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The events that I can't change end up changing me.
We hear background oldies.
FADE OUT.
