  3. INT. STUDY - MORNING

  4. Taking his laptop, PETER leaves.


  5. PETER (V.O.): I've one professional task that has to be completed today. But I also want to take a break.


  6. EXT. ROADS - LATER


  7. Peter drives his red coupe towards Gold Coast.


  8. PETER (V.O.): When I was in my teens, I worked part-time at the Castle Peak hotel. I envied guests taking breaks.


  9. Watching the sea on his left.


  10. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was very familiar with the sea view. I worked 12-hour days for a few dollars more.


  11. Peter drives past sea view villas.


  12. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Here was the site of demolished Castle Peak Hotel.


  13. Peter parks his coupe at the Gold Coast public car park.


  14. Act 2


  15. EXT. GOLD COAST BEACH - CONTINUOUS


  16. Peter swims breaststrokes along the orange-ball floating line towards the outer limit.


  17. PETER (V.O.): I swim safe. If the seawater becomes very rough, the floating balls may save my life.


  18. Reaching the outer limit, Peter rests in the water by holding onto the floating line.


  19. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I hope there's no loophole in the nearby shark prevention net.


  20. Peter swims freestyle back to the beach.


  21. EXT. ESTATE CARPARK - LATER


  22. Having parked his coupe, Peter turns its head and takes a photo of it.


  23. PETER (V.O.): I still love it, after 32 years.


  24. INT. LAKESIDE RESTAURANT - NOON


  25. Peter enjoys Seafood Rice in Soup and Ice Coffee.


  26. PETER (V.O.): It's really nice to take a break. I should love myself.


  27. Having checked a message, Peter takes an incoming call.


  28. PETER (V.O.): The papers have arrived and the court liaison officer wants to talk to me.


  29. After finishing the call and his rice, Peter sees a WAITER (20s) approaching.


  30. WAITER: How was the food?


  31. FLASHBACK


  32. EXT. CASTLE PEAK HOTEL - DAY (1970)


  33. Open-air Cafe. Wearing a bow tie, Peter (16) is waiting tables.


  34. RETURN TO PRESENT


  35. PETER (V.O.): Then, I daren't pose such a question, as the chefs wouldn't listen to me.


  36. Pausing.


  37. PETER: Well, the new flavour is Okay, but I prefer the old flavour...

  38. Peter and the waiter continue to chat.


  39. INT. PETER'S FANTASY PLACE - AFTERNOON


  40. Sitting in a round swivel sofa, Peter works on his laptop.


  41. PETER (V.O.): I know I've to finish the outstanding task here today. I don't have wifi here. See how good is my hotspot substitute.


  42. Peter sees the wifi icon on the tool bar of his laptop.


  43. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At least I'm connected.


  44. Having edited a draft, Peter stares at the screen.


  45. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The uploading speed is at a tortoise's pace.


  46. Peter clicks and waits.


  47. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It takes ages to export a pdf copy. It's so difficult to launch the fill-and-sign function.


  48. Peter looks frustrated.


  49. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to endure it since I wanted to take a break.


  50. Act 3


  51. INT. CARPARK - NIGHT


  52. Having parked his coupe at the basement, Peter walks up the stairs.


  53. PETER (V.O.): Oh, I feel pain in my left knee again.


  54. Peter holds on to the handrail.


  55. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm not young anymore.


  56. Pausing.


  57. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, if I want a break, I just take it, no matter what.


  58. INT. STUDY - LATE NIGHT


  59. Peter checks his diary.


  60. PETER (V.O.): I mustn't forget to return to chambers to study the papers and to reply by Sunday.


  61. Pausing.


  62. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I've another case to prosecute on Monday, and a couple of free legal advice to give on Tuesday.


  63. Pausing.


  64. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I deserve my break today.

  65. FADE OUT.
