  1. FADE IN.

  2. Act 1

  3. INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT

  4. Phone in hand, PETER reads a Quoran looking for an answer to a long question.

  5. PETER (V.O.): "Why are some Chinese netizens combining Hong Kong's and Taiwan's 2000 Tokyo Olympic medal count into China's final medal count? Should athletes from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan under a united Olympics team in the future?"

  6. Peter looks anxious.

  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Seeing Hong Kong, China's athletes getting medals and breaking records in Tokyo 2020, I've been thinking about the same question too.

  8. Pausing.

  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The notion of "Greater China" describing geographic commercial and cultural ties encompasses Mainland, China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

  10. Peter surfs the web.

  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The Olympic Spirit is said to promote tolerance, understanding and peace.

  12. Peter types his answer on the phone.

  13. Act 2

  14. INT. STUDIO - DAY

  15. After fixing a detachable lap rest frame into his new Traveller guitar, Peter begins to play.

  16. PETER (V.O): I haven't played guitars for months. I hope this new one will act as a catalyst to change. Let me start from the beginning.

  17. Peter plays the guitar chords of F - Gm - Am - Bb - C7 - Dm - Edim7...

  18. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday night, I wrote a reference for a very good friend. He was so kind to appear on stage with me in my "Farewell" concert.

  19. Guitar in his arms, Peter notes a What'sApp message from his phone.

  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh yes, someone invites me to join a pay-party involving catering services. I don't have any inclination to join.

  21. Peter types his reply.

  22. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Recently, I've prosecuted quite a number of cases concerning Prevention and Control of Diseases.

  23. Peter plays the guitar fingering of chords C, Am, F and G7. We hear harmony.

  24. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I write all my songs in the key signature of C. It's easy but boring. But I wish to have a breakthrough.

  25. Peter strums a few chords.

  26. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having had some "seat time", I feel that I can't create any melodies or lyrics today. I still owe a lawyer-friend a verbal reply on some issues.

  27. INT. STUDY - CONTINOUS

  28. Peter is reading a thick white book. He jots notes on his phone and does further research with it.

  29. PETER (V.O.): I can tell the differences among "Calderbank" offers (Without Prejudice Save as to Costs), sanctioned offers and sanctioned payments in the context of civil dispute settlement.

  30. After a lengthy phone conversation, Peter focuses on his iPad mini screen.

  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): By total medal count, US ranks no.1 (39 golds, China no.2 (38 golds), Japan no.3 (27 golds). Chinese Taipei no.43 (2 golds) ,and Hong Kong, China no. 49 (1 gold).

  32. Researching.

  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For Tokyo 2020, there're 206 participating units, Greater China has three.

  34. Peter studies some screen images.

  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The rankings of the Olympic medal-count table aren't unexpected. The dominating variables for winning medals should be population and level of income.

  36. Pausing.

  37. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The bigger the talent pool, the more likely to produce world-class athletes. And the wealthier a place, the more training resources it has.

  38. Peter continues to study some screen images.

  39. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, these are alternative tables of Tokyo 2020. For the population-based one, Bermuda ranks no, 1 (1 gold per 0.1m population). For GDP per capita-based onel, China ranks no.1 (38 golds (GDP per capita (US$)).

  40. Peter checks the sources

  41. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): These authentic alternative tables are prepared by the World Bank.

  42. Thinking.

  43. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, Chinese netizens have no need to cook up their own alternative table.

  44. Thinking.

  45. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In Tokyo 2020, Hong Kong, China, has performed very well. But should that be expected since it's populous and isn't poor?

  46. Thinking

  47. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):My estate has very good swimming pool facilities.

  48. Act 3

  49. INT. SITTING ROOM - NIGHT

  50. Phone in hand, Peter is reading an article. We see the title: Hong Kong and Singapore: A Tale of Two Cities.

  51. PETER (V.O.): Yes, we're advanced urban centers with high population densities and highly-developed economies.

  52. Researching.

  53. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Before Tokyo 2020, Hong Kong has a total of 3 medals, while Singapore has 5. After Tokyo 2020, Hong Kong has a total of 9 medals, while Singapore remains at 5.

  54. Pausing.

  55. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Comparing like with like, Hong Kong, China, shines in sports this time.

  56. Pausing.

  57. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): However, what's important aren't our medals, but how we uplift and fulfill our potential.

  58. Peter notes in his phone many Ouoran's upvote notifications.

  59. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My answer suggests a Team China in future Olympics, consistent with the Olympic Spirit.

  60. Reflecting.

  61. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Whatever the situations/problems, there can be a breakthrough - like Hong Kong, China's achievement in Tokyo 2020.

  62. Reflecting.

  63. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A house divided against itself can't stand. Unity is strength. Time is now ripe.

  64. FADE OUT.

  65. THE END
